Day 8 dubbed Super Saturday brings more medals for Team GB as well as a final bow for Michael Phelps

Day 8 dubbed 'Super Saturday' in the past saw more medals added to the GB total, with the likes of Mo Farah winning yet another Gold in the 10,000 race and Jessica Ennis-Hill winning Silver in the women's Heptathlon and Greg Rutherford adding Bronze to his medal collection in the long jump. Jess Ennis-Hill missed out on Gold, after the impressive performance from Belgium's Naffisatou Thiam set 5 personal bests in 7 of the disciplines. It ended a disappointing 6th for GB's young Katarina Johnson-Thompson, however still only 23 she has plenty of time to put that right!

Mo Farah added a 3rd straight Olympic Gold, despite having a fall in the 10,000m race. The impressive Mo Farah won 2 Golds in London 2012, so was hot favourite to repeat his heroics. Greg Ruherford admitted to be disappointed not to have repeated his Gold in London, as he finished with Bronze on the day. He was edged by South African Luvi Manyonga and Jeff Henderson, who won Silver and Gold respectively.

It has been a memorable time in the pool for Team GB, as the men's 4 200m relay finished with a Silver, behind USA. Adam Peaty goes home from his first Olympics with a Gold and Silver medal, while USA's Michael Phelps finished his fantastic career with the Gold in the same race and a breathtaking 20th Gold of his career. Back to GB, it is now 6 medals overall, 1 Gold and 5 Silvers with it being the most successful Olympic games since 1908! A special mention to Jazz Carlin, who won another Silver in the women's 400m freestyle, losing out to the incredible Kate Ledecky from USA.

It may not have been quite the Super Saturday like London 2012, but we were still treated to more medals and great efforts from Team GB. Today we could see more medals, with Max Whitlock and Louis Smith competing in the floor exercise and men's pommels horse final and Andy Murray in the Tennis final. We also have some more track cycling with the women's sprint qualifying and the men's cycling sprint finals with a all GB final of Jason Kenny and Callum Skinner.
