Adam Peaty and Jazz Carlin with the first medals for #TeamGB at the Rio Olympics

It is a very exciting time for British Swimming, with Adam Peaty living up to the hype and smashing a world record and winning Gold in the Men's 100m breaststroke. Peaty also became the first man to win Gold at the Olympics since 1988; when Adrian Moorhouse won in Seoul. Peaty was cheered on by his family, as he stormed to a breathtaking 57.13 record.

GB had even more to cheer about, when Jazz Carlin won Silver in the 400m freestyle just a few moments later. Carlin, who was also the first Welsh medal finished in 4.01 behind American Kathleen Ledecky who claimed the Gold. After supporting Team GB from the stands at London 2012, it really is a fantastic story for the 25 year old.

It was 4th place heart break for fellow Brit Hannah Miley, as she missed out on a medal in the women's individual Medley final. The bronze medal went to Spaniard Mireia Belmonte Garcia, who finished in 4:32.39, with Miley finishing 4.32.54.

With more swimmer representing Britain over the coming days, it is a hugely exciting time for fans!
