We are very excited to have Paralympic Discus thrower Dan Greaves as a guest for our October event. We have put together a fact file on our guest to give you an idea of what to expect!

Name - Dan Greaves

Born - 4th October 1982

Place of birth - Antsey, Leicestershire

First games - Paralympic games in Sydney 2000

Accomplishments -11 medals including a Paralympic Gold at Athens 2004 and a Silver at London 2012. Broke 2 world records in 2004 ( Athens ) and 2011 ( World Athletic Championships in New Zealand )

Did you know? Dan was chosen to compete with the able bodied squad in 2001 for a tour of America.

First tried discus throwing when his PE teacher encouraged him to get involved.

He has a masters degree in sports science and business managements from Loughborough in 2007.

We are very excited to have former Olympian and record breaking swimmer Joanne Jackson as out launch night guest in London. We thought we would put together a fact file on Joanne to give you a taster of what to expect in September!

Type of swimming - Freestyle

First Olympics games - Athens 2004

Last Olympics games - London 2012

Greatest achievement - Breaking a world record in 2009 in the 400m freestyle, She beat her rival and very good friend Rebecca Adlington in the process in Sheffield.

What she been up to since she retired? - She has opened a swimming academy with husband and fellow swimmer Grant Turner. The academy teaches children with all abilities how to be the best they can be.

At Live Sport Talks, we will be finding out how Joanne felt when performing at the highest level as well as competing at the historic London 2012 Olympic games. We will also be getting her opinions on the current affairs in British Swimming post Rio!

Road to Rio - 80 named in GB squad including Danny Willett, Andy Murray and Jessica Ennis- Hill

Some huge names released in the Team GB squads for the upcoming Olympics in Rio. Andy Murray has confirmed his place, after winning Gold last Olympics in London, Danny Willett and Justin Rose will compete despite the issues the Golf are having with stars dropping out. London 2012 hero Jessica Ennis-Hill is also included, she will be looking to repeat her heroics and win Gold last time out. Fan favourite Mo Farah is lined up, he famously won 2 Golds in London. James Ellington will be competing in the 100m sprint after an impressive build up, while Greg Rutheford will be competing in the long jump for his 3rd Olympic games.

Jo Pavey will be looking to be her recent injury hell behind her, she was selected for the 10,000m race, with Asha Philip signed up for the 100m sprint.

Team GB team selections coming thick and fast for Rio 2016

Team GB selections for Rio are coming thick and fast, with gymnastics and Boxing confirming their choices. Louis Smith and Max Whitlock have been picked for the gymnastics team, with Louis Smith set to compete in his second Olympic games.

16 medals for Team GB at the European Championships in Amsterdam

The European Championships have come to an end in Amsterdam and Team GB can look back with great pride. With 16 medals winners, including 5 being golds with fan favourite Greg Rutherford winning the men's long jump. Team GB also defended their 400m relay gold from Switzerland 2 years ago. Special mention to Dan Greaves, our October guest for his fantastic effort and we look forward to seeing him in action at Rio next month!
