Live Sport Talks returns to 2017 with 3 Gold medalists from Rio #LiveSportTalks
We are very excited to announce that Live Sport Talks returns to London with a very exciting event on Thursday 30th March! We welcome 3 of the Gold medal winning Team GB Hockey side as our guests at the Dickens Inn in London. Host Charlie Rowe will be discussing the heroic Olympic win in Rio with Hollie Webb, Georgie Twigg and Shona McCallin in front of a LIVE audience. Lincoln cause a HUGE upset in the FA Cup against Burnley, we look at some of the biggest sporting upsets!
The FA Cup always tends to bring up an upset, and this round certainly didn't disappoint! It was Premier league side Burnley's turn to be humbled by the Conference Premier side Lincoln in the last 16 yesterday on their home soil. Lincoln threw caution to the wind and managed to get themselves ahead when Sean Raggett nodded in the winner. We love an underdog story in Britain, lets have a look at some of the best of underdog wins!
Novak Djokovic has a nightmare in Melbourne
Djokovic certainly started the year on a sour note, the 12 time grand slam winner and reportedly has won over $100 million in prize money was knocked out of the Australian Open in the 2nd round by unknown Dennis Istomin, who was ranked outside of the world 100 at the time. It was a nail biting 5 setter with Uzbekistan's Istomin winning the final set and sending shock waves through the world of Tennis.
Leicester City WINNING the Premier League in the 2015/16 season
A lot of Football fans spent the majority of the season wiping their eyes; as little old Leicester City were topping the pile in the Premier League. Leicester, who narrowly avoided relegation the year before were beating teams left, right and centre with incredible wins against money bags Manchester City at the Etihad, a win against Liverpool and a win at Tottenham. Likely to never be seen again in the Premier League, Leicester winning the league goes down as the biggest underdog story in English Football history. With this season currently being a bit of a mess and the team just 2 points off relegation, this makes it even more impressive.
Greece beat hosts Portugal to win Euro 2004
The tournament itself was less than impressive to say the least, with a lot of the 'big' teams struggling to get out of 2nd gear, it was Greece who took full advantage. It was German coach Otto Rehhagel who masterminded the great win, where he set the Greek team up in a clever defensive formation and relied on the odd goal. It seemed that hosts Portugal were destined to win the tournament, they boasted Barcelona's playmaker Deco, Milan legend Rui Costa and of course one of the greatest players of all time Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portugese huffed and puffed, however Greece scored the only goal of the game via Charisteas effort on the 57th minute. It goes down as the biggest underdog history in European Football history.
Team USA fail to win the Gold medal at the Olympics in 2004
The USA boast the strongest league in the world, the NBA and have a string of Olympic Gold medals. The famous 1992 team had the likes of Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird in their ranks and won every game to take the Gold. Fast forward 12 years, and Team USA found themselves on a shock semi final match up loss to Argentina. It was a 3rd quarter run from Argentina that really knocked USA for 6 and they struggled to claw the lead back. Argentina, who boasted mutliple NBA champion Ginobli and Scola went on to beat Italy to win the Gold!

Mo Farah to run his last indoor championships in Birmingham today!
It is the end of an era, Mo Farah will be running his last indoor race this weekend at the Birmingham Indoor Grand Prix! We look back at some of the most epic Farah performances!
1999 European Cross Country Championships
1999 saw Mo win his first Gold medal in the junior team at the European Cross Country Championships in Slovenia. Mo came 5th in the idividual race, however the team had enough points to take the top place on the podium!
2001 European Junior Championships
It was 3rd time lucky for Mo in the European Junior Championships in Italy to win his first Gold in the individual race.
The entire of 2010
Farah became a winning machine, this really started in 2010 when he dominated the European Championships where he won Gold in Norway and 2 Gold in Barcelona. Mo went onto win 5 STRAIGHT races all in all, with 2 more Golds in the World Championships!
London 2012 and Rio 2016

England see off Wales to make it 2 out of 2, Ireland get their first win and Scotland lose to France
It has been a great start to this years Six Nations with England currently top, they have Ireland breathing down their neck as they have also won both games.
England certainly weren't pretty against France, but still managed to get the win 19-16 at Twickenham to kick off their campaign, however they say winning when you don't play well is a sign of a good team. Wales didn't crack under pressure when playing Italy, they got a comfortable 33-7 win away at Italy. Scotland provided the shock of the round, they beat Ireland in a remarkable performance 27-22 to get off to a winning start.
Italy were once again thrashed, this time they lost 63-10 against Ireland, who were looking to bounce back after their opening game loss to Scotland. Scotland put up a brave performance, however they lost out to France in a 22-16 at the Stade de France, there was some impressive kicking from the French throughout. In the big one, it was the late late show after England saw off Wales 21 - 16 in Cardiff. It was Daly who scored a try on the 76 minute to win the game for England in a hotly contested game.

Another club legend retires... Frank Lampard hangs up his boots
Another legend in Frank Lampard decided to hang up their boots after a fantastic career. We seem to be rapidly seeing legends of sport retiring over the last couple of years, so we look back at some of these and their accomplishments!
Frank Lampard
Lets start with Frank Lampard, after a trophy ridden career, the 38 year old decided to call it a day after playing for New York City in the MLS last season. Lampard won 3 Premier League titles, 4 FA Cups, 2 League Cups and 1 Champions League. He is also Chelsea's all time goalscorer with a whopping 211 goals from MIDFIELD! He is a true legend of the game, he also came 2nd in the Baloon D'or in 2005, which was won by Ronaldinho.
Steven Gerrard
Steven Gerrard is another Premier League legend to announce his retirement from the beautiful game. Gerrard made over 500 appearances for his hometown club Liverpool to become a cult hero. Gerrard lifted numerous trophies over his time, such as 2 FA Cups, 3 League Cups and that memorable Champions League trophy in Istanbul. The one trophy that did elude Gerrard was the Premier League; after coming so close in 2014 it really was sad to see a legend like Gerrard not win the league.
Kobe Bryant
Switching to Basketball, the NBA lost a icon when Kobe Bryant retired from the game. Bryant, who played his entire career with the LA Lakers won 5 NBA championships as well as being picked for the all star game 18 times. Kobe is a true legend of the game, and has regularly been compared with the great Michael Jordan.
Tim Duncan
Another NBA legend, Tim Duncan also spent his entire career with one club San Antonio Spurs. Unlike Bryant, who announced his retirement 1 year before, Duncan quietly retired from the game at the end of the 2015/16 season. Duncan 5 NBA titles, 3 time NBA finals MVP and 15 time All star appearances. A true legend, don't be surprised to see the iconic 21 jersey retired soon!

What a great Australian Open!
The first Grand Slam of the year certainly didn't disappoint! There were some great matches as well as great shocks! The 4 finalist's in the single matches all had a combined 60 Grand Slams between them heading into the final. Serena Williams ( 23 slams) saw off older sister Venus Williams ( 7 slams ) in an emotional final winning by 2 sets to 0. It was a final for the ages, Roger Federer ( 18 slams) beat old rival Rafael Nadal ( 14 slams ) in a epic 5 set battle. Federer, who last won a Grand Slam back in Wimbledon in 2012 has lost 23 times to Nadal over his career so this was particularly sweet for Federer. Nadal was a worthy finalist, as he pushed Federer all the way and we have a feeling it won't be the last time the Spaniard in a Grand Slam final. Serena made her own history, she overtook the great Steffie Graf with 23 Grand Slams. Serena was stuck on 22 after losing last years Australian Open and the US Open, however did win Wimbledon.
It was a tournament to forget for current world number 2 Novak Djokovic, who lost out to Istomin who was ranked 117 in the round of 64. The Serbian, who last his world number 1 rank to Andy Murray last year will be looking to the French Open in May to bounce back. Andy Murray will also see this tournament as a missed opportunity; he was the victim of a shock loss against German Zverev. Zverev put in a fine display against the world number 1 winning 3 sets to 1 in the round of 16.
Another great story was that of Mirjana Lucic-Baron from Crotia. She was ranked 79 going in the Australian Open. Lucic-Baron found herself in the semi-final for the first time since Wimbledon 1999! She lost out to Serena 2 sets to 0, however it was a inspiration comeback and a great Australian Open story.
It was a great effort from Britain's Dan Evans, who made it to the round of 16. He eventually lost out to Tsonga 3 sets to 1, but it will certainly give him confidence going into the year!
